After a year of teaching under my mentor teacher, Steven Turner, at Pearland Junior High East (8th grade), I have come to realize that classroom management is the most essential skill an educator of the young must possess. My primary goal as a teacher is to impart my love of history to as many students as possible, but to do so there must be a classroom environment where everyone feels safe and respected. I plan to have my students well prepared for standardized tests regarding historical facts recommended by Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. I have studied and learned the ISTE Standards for Educators and will adhere to all of them. Classroom management is done best by having clear rules and standards in the classroom and enforcing them fairly. It is in my nature to be a friend to the students not an enemy, but the teachers roll as an authority comes first.
